The Hot Zone is an American drama miniseries, which premiered on May 27, 2019 in National Geographic and traces the origins of the Ebola virus, which is highly infectious and deadly from the Central African rain forest and its first arrival in the U.S. In 1989, when the virus suddenly appeared in primates in a scientific laboratory in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., no cure was known. The epidemic reaches all corners of the world, killing a large part of the population. Health authorities are fighting to contain the disease. To try to find a vaccine, a WHO doctor embarks on a journey to follow in the footsteps of the first woman who became infected with the virus.
